AAEA’s room block at the Hyatt Regency is almost full and rooms are going fast at the Millennium. If you haven’t reserved a hotel room for the 2014 AAEA Annual Meeting, make sure you book a room as soon as possible! The cut-off at the Millennium is June 25 and at the Hyatt it’s July 3. The reduced rates offered to meeting attendees cannot be guaranteed after these dates.

Employment Center Now Open
Registration is now open for the 2014 Employment Center taking place July 27-29, during the 2014 AAEA Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN. The Employment Center offers a great opportunity for highly qualified candidates to connect with a number of employers during the Annual Meeting. This year's Employment Center features a simplified registration and posting process that is now integrated into the newly updated AAEA Job Board. Applicant registration is FREE.

- Connecting with African Agricultural Economics Networks: Opportunities to Support Education and Research through the African Economics Research Consortium (AERC) and the Nouveau Programme de Troisième Cycle Interuniversitaire (NPTCI)

The purpose of this session is to introduce the research and training programs of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the Nouveau Programme de Troisième Cycle Interuniversitaire (NPTCI), and the Collaborative Masters of Agricultural and Applied Economics (CMAAE) to the AAEA membership. The session will provide a forum for AAEA members to explore options for collaborating in agricultural economics research and training programs in Africa through the AERC and NPTCI networks. AERC and NPTCI leadership, faculty, alumni and board members, and AAEA members who are already collaborating with AERC and NPTCI will be in attendance.
- Assessing the NRC Committee Review of USDA’s Agricultural and Food Research Initiative (AFRI)

A committee of the National Research Council was recently brought together to assess the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative, USDA’s competitive-grant program. In the present session, two NRC committee members will review the newly released findings. Discussion will focus on AFRI program management; the size, duration, and complexity of awarded grants; and – perhaps – an initial look at the performance of the studies funded. Audience participation is welcome.
New this Year – All Posters Available on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday
Stop by the Sunday night Poster Reception to network with the poster presenters. The reception will take place at the Hyatt Regency from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Exhibit Hall. Be one of the first 500 attendees at the reception and receive a free drink ticket.
Poster presenters will also be present at their poster during an assigned Poster Presentation Lunch Session. Authors that have posters with odd numbers will present during Monday's lunch hour and authors with even numbered posters will present during Tuesday’s lunch hour.
