2018 Annual Meeting Recap
A huge thank you to everyone who joined AAEA in Washington, D.C. We hosted over 1,600 attendees! Your continued support is essential and appreciated. We hope to see all of you again next year in Atlanta, GA!
We would also like to thank the Selected Presentations Committee, Topic Leaders, and Reviewers. Not only did they perform their duties of analyzing abstract submissions and creating consistent sessions, they also worked tirelessly on creating new ways to improve the experience of presenters and attendees.
The 2018 AAEA Annual Meeting featured a new discussant method in select sessions. Based upon feedback received after the meeting, we are going to continue this method and possibly expand to additional sessions. AAEA welcomes all comments and concerns. If you have any additional ideas on this discussant method or anything else you would like to see in the future, please feel free to reach out to the AAEA Business Office at (414) 918-3190 or info@aaea.org.
In addition, thank you to all of the Section Leaders and members who helped organize the many successful Track Sessions. We can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store!
Mark Your Calendar for 2019
Major plans for the 2019 AAEA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA are already in the works. The meeting will take place July 21-23, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
The Atlanta Marriott Marquis is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta, surrounded by other hotels, a plethora of dining options, as well as various sites rich with historic and popular culture. The Center for Civil and Human Rights, Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Center, and much more are located just a few blocks away!
We encourage all attendees to book a hotel room at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis under the AAEA room block. Single and Double room rates start at $199 per night. Please note, the room block has not yet opened. The most up to date information will be posted on the Annual Meeting hotel page.
Submissions Now Open
AAEA is currently accepting abstract and session proposals. The Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity to present your research, put together a workshop, and to explore the realm of agriculture and applied economics via other peers and leaders in the field. The 2019 Open Calls webpage contains important criteria and submission information, and once you are ready to submit, please visit the submission website. In order to submit you do need to be a current AAEA member or pay a $25 submission fee. Please also take note of the important due dates listed below.
AAEA Award Nominations
Nominations for the 2019 Annual Awards are being accepted now through February 8, 2019. AAEA would like to provide an opportunity to recognize those who have done outstanding work or research in their fields. This includes teachers, role models, and even students. Winners will be announced at the 2019 AAEA Annual Meeting, during the AAEA Awards and Fellows Recognition Ceremony. For more information on each award and how to submit a nomination, please visit our awards page.
