AAEA News Call for Nominations The AAEA Nominating Committee is soliciting nominations from AAEA membership for AAEA President-Elect and two AAEA Directors, all for three year terms beginning July 2021. Please submit the names and affiliations of nominees to aware@aaea.org. Nominations must be received by October 1, 2021. Evidence-Based Policymaking for Applied Economists Two Part Virtual Workshop 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT Please join us for this two-day virtual workshop, during which we begin to explore some of these roadblocks. During the workshop, participants will learn about innovations in data identification and linkages, and high-quality resources that have the potential for catalyzing new and emerging initiatives in the field from a knowledgeable set of speakers, including Julia Lane, a pioneer in data linkages. Registration is $20. Please complete registration form and email to info@aaea.org. Registration deadline is September 29, 2021. Call for Nominations The AAEA Fellows Selection Committee is inviting nominations for the 2022 AAEA Fellows Awards. The deadline for submission of nominations and supporting biographical documentation is Wednesday, October 6, 2021. Selection is based mainly on a continuous contribution to the advancement of agricultural or applied economics as defined by the Vision Statement of the AAEA. Achievements may be in research, teaching, extension, administration, or business. The nominee must be a living current member of AAEA and have been a member for at least five years. Nominations should be submitted as a single PDF file to Allison Ware at aware@aaea.org. Please contact Allison if you have any questions. AAEA Trust Call for Proposals The AAEA Trust supports the work of agricultural and applied economists by funding programs, initiatives, activities or other creative endeavors designed to advance the profession. Proposals should be submitted as a single PDF file by Friday, October 15, 2021, to ensure consideration for funding for the next year. Proposals will be reviewed by the AAEA Trust Committee, which will make recommendations to the Executive Board for action at the January 2022 Board Meeting. Call for Applications The AAEA Trust is now accepting applications for the Anthony Grano Scholarship Award. Two scholarships of $1,250 will be awarded to academically successful, highly motivated students in agricultural economics or a closely related discipline with an interest in agricultural policy and the policy formation process. The scholarship will support recipients to travel to Washington, DC to meet with senior staff from USDA, Congressional offices, and agricultural trade associations and commodity organizations. The application deadline is Friday, October 15, 2021. Call for Applications The AERA along with one representative from AAEA will play a facilitating role in the selection of Indian students/young professionals to participate in the mentorship program. The offer and themes for each year will be published in one of the issues of Agricultural Economics Research Review (AERR) and recommendation of the Association shall be sent to AAEA for Award of the grant. The following criteria were agreed for screening and recommendation of the candidate(s). Call for Applications The Sylvia Lane Mentor Fellowship provides an opportunity for early career women scholars working on food, agricultural, or resource issues to collaborate with an established expert at another university, institution, or firm. The application deadline is Friday, October 15, 2021. Call for Applications The AAEA Trust Committee is accepting applications for the 2022 Chester O. McCorkle Jr. Student Scholarship. This scholarship will support applied research by a graduate student on economic issues relating to agriculture. At least one (1) scholarship of up to $2,000 will be awarded. Funds can be used for research related expenses, data collection, tuition and program related expenses such as fees, books, supplies and equipment, provided the items are required of all students in the program. Applications are due Friday, October 15, 2021. Call For Applications The Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Trust is now accepting applications for the Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award for Women. The Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award for Women supports a mentorship relationship between an early career woman agricultural, resource and environmental economist from low income and lower-middle income countries, and a mentor who is a member of the AAEA. Call For Applications The Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Trust is now accepting applications for the Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award. The Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship Award supports a mentorship relationship with a view to promote high quality research of a policy/problem solving nature in countries with food insecurity and environmental pressures. It is meant to promote collaboration between an early career scholar who is a citizen of and resides in a developing country and a distinguished mentor. Call for Proposals: The AAEA Executive Board invites proposals for Pre- and Post-conference Workshops at the 2022 AAEA Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. The deadline for proposals is Thursday, December 2. Selections will be finalized at the AAEA Executive Board meeting in early January and organizers will be notified soon thereafter by the AAEA President. Call for Proposals: AAEA welcomes proposals for Invited Paper sessions for the 2022 AAEA Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. Papers in these Invited Paper sessions may be published in the Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy (AEPP) in March 2023, subject to review. Proposals from individuals or groups need to be submitted using the online submission system by Thursday, December 2, 2021. The system will open in early November. Call for Abstracts AAEA seeks submissions for Selected Presentations for the 2022 AAEA Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. Selected Presentations are a submission category that represents both Selected Papers and Selected Posters. All submissions are reviewed and accepted together, and only after acceptance are the submissions designated as a paper or poster. At the time of submission, individuals will have the option for their submission to be considered as a poster only. There is no paper only option. Abstracts must be received by Wednesday, January 18, 2022 11:59 PM CST, and should be submitted using AAEA’s online Abstract Management System. The system will open in early November. Call for Proposals The AAEA Executive Board invites Track Session proposals for the 2022 AAEA Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. Initial proposals need to be submitted by Thursday, December 2, 2021, to Samantha Bilgrien at sbilgrien@aaea.org. Final, detailed submissions associated with each session are due by March 16, 2022. The AAEA Business Office will work with each Section that submits proposals on their final submission. Call for Proposals: AAEA seeks submissions for Organized Symposia for the 2022 AAEA Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA. Proposals are due by Wednesday, January 18, 2022, and should be submitted using AAEA’s online submission system. The system will open in early November. AEPP Working Collection of Articles on COVID-19 These articles will appear in an upcoming special issue on COVID-19. Articles will be added to the collection as they publish online ahead of the special issue publication in early 2021. The aim is to provide an inclusive outlet for research, teaching and Extension education scholarship encompassing but not limited to research articles, case studies, classroom games, commentaries, experiential learning, and pedagogy. The goal is to support and advance teaching and Extension education within the scholarly areas of agricultural and applied economics, and agribusiness economics and management. AETR seeks to publish articles that are diverse in both scope and authorship. It serves as a platform for addressing and contributing to our understanding of important societal issues, including inequality and discrimination, as well as how shifts in pedagogy (e.g., growing reliance on remote and hybrid learning modalities) may impact accessibility and inclusion. Call for Papers Applied Economics and Teaching Resources (AETR) is calling for manuscripts on Extension Education and Teaching methods, program and curriculum development, program delivery and impact assessment. Additionally, manuscripts which document effective methods of educating future Extension professionals are welcome, as well as those which address the current and future trends and needs in Extension economics programming.
