AAEA News 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting – Mobile App Prepare for the #AAEA2024 by downloading the app before you are on-site! We are using an online platform called Whova for our event. You can Download the Whova app to access the event:
After downloading the Whova mobile app or accessing the event via the web portal, use the email address used to register for the annual meeting to login or sign up for a Whova account. If you aren’t sure what email you registered with, please contact the AAEA Business Office for confirmation. To protect user data, Whova requires a two-factor authentication at sign-in. After entering your email and password, a verification code will be sent to your email. Please check your inbox and spam folder for the code. Detailed instructions can be found here. Already used the Whova app in the past? Double-check that it is installed on your phone, and log in using your existing account email and password. Don't have a smartphone? Don't want to download the app? No problem! We have an interactive version of the schedule on the 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting website. Need a PDF copy of the program? Click the printer icon on the Schedule page to pull an up-to-date version. Please note that we will not be offering printed programs this year. Still having issues? *Guests include any interested party not professionally in or a student of the fields of agricultural or applied economics, or a related discipline. Guest fees include the welcome reception, plenary sessions, and all concurrent sessions (Guests under the age of 16 are free, and don’t need to register). *Cancellation: Cancellations of meeting registrations are subject to a $50 processing fee. After July 5, no refunds will be given for meeting registrations or special event tickets. To cancel your Annual Meeting registration and/or special event tickets, contact the AAEA Business Office at (414) 918-3190 or info@aaea.org. Website: www.aaea.org. If AAEA cancels the meeting any paid meeting registration fees will be fully refunded. AAEA Business Meeting Date: Monday, July 29, 2024 AAEA’s annual Business Meeting will be held during the annual meeting in New Orleans on Monday, July 29 in the Acadia room at the New Orleans Marriott. This meeting gives members the chance to hear about the state of the association. Updates will be given by the AAEA President, the Finance Committee, and the AAEA Trust Committee. Additionally, Board members and Editors who are completing their terms will be recognized for their service. Lastly, those in attendance will be given an opportunity to voice any questions or concerns that they may have. We hope you’ll join us in New Orleans. *NEW* 2024 AAEA Annual Meeting Quiet Room Quiet Room: We will have a dedicated room available throughout the event for those who may wish to step out of the meetings. The quiet room provides a dedicated space for attendees to relax, recharge, and take a break from the noise and stimulation of the event. Studio 6 on the 2nd floor will be the Quiet room. Please keep an eye out for Task Force members wearing purple t-shirts if you have any questions about the Task Force efforts or events.

Sloan Foundation – Minor Research Grants in Mesoeconomics The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Summer School at the University of Cambridge will be making 3-5 small research grants available up to the value of £5,000 to support the development of research in supply chains, production networks and, more broadly, the aggregate consequences of networked interactions. It is envisaged that these funds will support developing research via, among other things, acquiring and accessing data, accessing online survey platforms, and computing services. To apply for a minor research grant please email, in a pdf file containing no more than one page, details of how these funds could support your research to mesoeconomics@econ.cam.ac.uk Closing date for applications is July 27, 2024 NBER Conference on Competition in the US Agricultural Sector To promote research on competition in the agricultural sector and the consequences of the industrial organization of this sector for consumers as well as input suppliers, the National Bureau of Economic Research, with support from the Economic Research Service of the US Department of Agriculture, will convene a research conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on December 12, 2024. The conference will be organized by James MacDonald (University of Maryland) and Fiona Scott Morton (Yale University and NBER). The deadline for submissions is September 3, 2024, and submissions should be of complete, or nearly complete, papers. VIII Beeronomics Conference The 2024 Beeronomics Conference will take place at University of Milan Bicocca, Italy, 19-22 June. Main panels and sessions will be held at the University of Bicocca main campus located in the heart of the city. The Conference Organising Committee, led by Christian Garavaglia, welcomes all high-quality research on the economics of beer and brewing.
