2025 AAEA Membership Renewal We invite and encourage you to renew your AAEA membership for 2025! Renewing ensures that you’ll stay connected with your association and peers. It also gives you the chance to be engaged with leading edge work being done by our members and support your AAEA through the activities of the association. An active and engaged membership is the lifeblood of our AAEA. We appreciate all that you do to support AAEA and hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities that are available to connect with and engage your peers, the profession, and AAEA. Selected Presentation Papers and Posters AAEA seeks submissions for Selected Presentations for the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. Selected Presentations are a submission category that represents both Selected Papers and Selected Posters. All submissions are reviewed together, and only after acceptance, will the submissions be assigned as a paper or poster presentation. At the time of submission, individuals will have the option for their submission to be considered as a poster only. There is no paper only option. Abstracts must be received by January 15, 2025, at 11:59 pm CST, and must be submitted using AAEA’s online Abstract Management System. Invited Paper Sessions AAEA welcomes proposals for Invited Paper sessions for the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. Papers in these Invited Paper sessions may be published in the Applied Economics Perspectives and Policy (AEPP) in March 2026, subject to review. Proposals from individuals or groups need to be submitted using the online submission system by December 4, 2024. The Abstract Management System is now open. Track Sessions sponsored by AAEA Sections The AAEA Executive Board invites Track Session proposals for the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. Initial proposals need to be submitted by Wednesday, December 4, 2024, to AAEA’s online submission system. The system will open in early November. Final, detailed submissions associated with each session are due by March 10, 2025. The AAEA Business Office will work with each Section that submits proposals on their final submission. Case Studies AAEA welcomes proposals for Case Studies for the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. Cases in this Invited Paper session may be published in the Applied Economics Teaching Resources (AETR) in January 2026, subject to review. Proposals from individuals or groups need to be submitted using AAEA’s online submission system by 11:59 pm CST on December 4, 2024. The Abstract Management System is now open. Organized Symposia AAEA seeks submissions for Organized Symposia for the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. Proposals are due by January 15, 2025, and should be submitted using AAEA’s online submission system. The Abstract Management System is now open. Pre- and Post-conference Workshops The AAEA Executive Board invites proposals for Pre- and Post-conference Workshops at the 2025 AAEA & WAEA Joint Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. The deadline for proposals is December 2. Selections will be finalized at the AAEA Executive Board meeting in early January and organizers will be notified soon thereafter by the AAEA President. Choices Magazine: Article Highlight Water Justice Concerns in the Colorado River Basin Water policy decisions, contamination, and supply disruptions have disproportionate impacts on low-income and minority populations which may lack resources to support resilience. This article discusses several water justice challenges for tribal nations and Hispanic acequia communities in the CRB, along with the contributions of these groups to regional water resilience. AJAE Editorship Applications Editorship appointments for the American Journal of Agricultural Economics are staggered such that two new appointments are made every two years. The AAEA Board now seeks a diverse group of applicants at the full professor level (or equivalent) by the start of the appointment for two co-editors to be appointed to replace current co-editors Jesse Tack and Rudy Nayga for a four-year term beginning in January 2026. Each co-editor handles approximately one-fourth of the submitted manuscripts and makes independent editorial decisions on these submissions. The degree to which candidate’s expertise complements that of continuing editors Nicholas Magnan and Christian Langpap will be considered in the selection process. Government Relations & Washington Update November 2024 Congress Returns for Lame Duck Session Other News ICABR Call for Abstracts Food production faces a host of interconnected challenges – water scarcity, resource depletion, deforestation, rising energy costs – are but a few of the factors that impact not only the amount of food produced, but also its price. Circular bioeconomies offer potential solutions through a systems approach to improve the sustainability of food production. However, producing more with less, requires significant innovation investments, efficient regulations and unrestricted trade. Improved sustainability requires a systems approach, where policy or regulatory changes in one phase of the innovation pipeline can adversely or beneficially impact other phases. Seeking Agricultural Economist Specializing in the Bioeconomy for Farm Foundation Fellowship Farm Foundation is pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2025 Farm Foundation Agricultural Economics Fellowship. The 2025 fellowship is focused on the bioeconomy and related fields of applied economic research. Nominations will be accepted through November 18, 2024. Gund Institute for Environment The Gund Institute for Environment at the University of Vermont (UVM) seeks exceptional PhD applicants to conduct interdisciplinary research on global environmental challenges beginning in fall 2025. Applications are due January 5, 2025. Call for paper proposals The NCCC-134 Multi-state Research Coordinating Committee on Applied Commodity Price Analysis, Forecasting, and Market Risk Management invites paper proposals for presentation at its upcoming conference to be held April 14-15, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois. We are excited to bring this conference back to Chicago, a hub of global commodities trading, for the first time since 2007. |
