Scope and Purpose of Proposed Section:
The section will include members, but limited, from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, economists of Indian sub-continent origin, and professionals and economists working on economic issues in South Asia. The section aims to facilitate AAEA members and other professionals in applied economic and policy issues related to South Asian countries. The section will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas, disseminating research, and identifying opportunities for collaboration among members and other professionals in academia, industry, and government. The South Asia Section will also provide a forum for members to learn about professional development and networking opportunities. The section will mentor junior AAEA members with an interest in this area.
Membership
The membership of the South Asia Section is open to any AAEA member with interest in agricultural and applied economics activities related to research, teaching, extension, and outreach. It is hoped that this section will be South Asian members of the AAEA.

Fees
Membership fees are $15 for regular members and free for student members.
Mentoring
Under the mentorship program, the South Asia section of the AAEA will support young South Asian scholars on research initiatives, article writing, and publication.
